This event is part of California International Arbitration Week.
Please note: It is a hybrid event but the in-person location is full. Virtual participation is welcome.

As arbitration becomes an integral part of any legal framework, it has become critical for corporate counsel to have a firm understanding of the process, even as they continue to rely on the expertise of outside counsel. By having arbitration-savvy corporate counsel, businesses can better protect their interests in the course of their day-to-day dealings with innovative offerings.

This program will give practical tips for handling international arbitration, highlighting innovations and calling on Brazil as an exemplary jurisdiction. Brazil in particular is known for being an arbitration-friendly jurisdiction, thanks in great part to the Brazilian Arbitration Act (BAA) which allows for great flexibility and adaptability of the arbitration process to suit the parties’ needs. Since Brazil ratified the New York Convention, Brazilian courts have adopted a pro-arbitration approach and Brazilian companies have embraced arbitrations as a favored form of dispute resolution, making Brazil one of the most active arbitration forums in Latin America.

Speakers:
Helena Tavares Erickson, CPR Dispute Resolution Senior Vice President
Rafael Alves, MAMG Advogados, São Paulo
Marcio Vasconcellos, King & Spaulding, New York
Yasmine Lahlou, Chaffetz Lindsey, Los Angeles
Guilherme Sanchez, Google Brasil

Registration is open on the California International Arbitration Week website. California International Arbitration Week is March 13 - 17, 2023.
