Richard W. Naimark was Senior Vice President of American Arbitration, founder and executive in charge of the International Center for Dispute Resolution (ICDR). Under his leadership ICDR achieved the largest institutionally administered international arbitration caseload by number. He was the founder and Executive Director of the Global Center for Dispute Resolution Research which conducted research in arbitration and ADR for disputes in cross-border transactions. Mr. Naimark is an experienced mediator and facilitator, having served as a neutral in a wide variety of organizational settings. Experience includes work with the United Nations (UNCITRAL); government; universities; corporate; construction; computer; real estate; land use; insurance; and non-profit subject areas. Mr. Naimark also served as Permanent Secretary – North America, Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Mr. Naimark was also responsible for legislative monitoring and representation functions while at American Arbitration Associationand has held positions responsible for Strategy, Outreach, E-Commerce, and other areas of operations.

Experience includes consultancy and significant build contribution to the establishment of BCDR-AAA (Bahrain Chamber of Dispute Resolution), SCCA (Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration) as Chair of Rules Advisory Committee and the transition of SIAC (Singapore International Arbitration Centre), as well as the nation of Singapore into a credible international presence.

Mr. Naimark has conducted hundreds of seminars and training programs on dispute resolution with mediation and arbitration training a specialty for more than 40 years, conducted in the US and a number of jurisdictions around the world including Nepal, China, Korea, Singapore, Argentina, France, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Canada, Mexico. He has been speaker, keynote speaker and chair of numerous conferences.

He is co-editor of the book Toward a Science of International Arbitration. Articles published include Arbitrators Do Not “Split-the-Baby”: Empirical Evidence from International Business Arbitration, International Private Commercial Arbitration: Expectations and Perceptions of Attorneys and Business People, and Analysis Of UNCITRAL Questionnaires On Interim Relief. Mr. Naimark earned a Masters of Science – Business Policy in 1983, from Columbia Business School and is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island (B.A. English, 1975).
