Professor La Rue has a JD and master’s degree in Industrial & Labor Relations from Cornell University. He is Professor of Law at the Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. Professor La Rue is founder and co-director of the Howard Law ADR Program and designed and directs the Law School’s ADR Certificate Program. Professor La Rue has extensive experience as a labor and employment law attorney. For more than 30 years, he has served as an arbitrator and a mediator in numerous matters, including labor, employment, and commercial disputes.

Professor La Rue is the 2020 recipient of the D’Alemberte-Raven Award, the highest award given by the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution in recognition of decades of outstanding service to the ADR community. He is past Chair of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution. He is a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators and is currently a Vice-President of the Academy. Professor La Rue was the 2017-18 Neutral-In-Residence at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) at Cornell University. He is a Distinguished Fellow in the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers.
